Foreshelf guide
Foreshelf tells you what to reorder, how much, and when — before a product runs out. It reads your Wix Stores products, stock and orders, forecasts demand for every product option, and turns the result into purchase orders for your suppliers. Every number comes with a plain-language "why".
How the forecast works
For each product option (for example Green Tea — Small), Foreshelf works out:
- Sells per day — a weighted average of the last 30, 60 and 90 days, leaning on the most recent month. Cancelled orders don't count and refunded units are taken off.
- Trend — whether the last 30 days sell faster or slower than the 60 days before (after 60 days of history). The forecast follows the trend, within limits.
- Seasonality — with a year of history, how the coming 30 days sold last year compared with the yearly average.
- Days of stock — your stock on hand divided by the forecast daily sales.
- Reorder point — what you sell during your supplier's lead time, plus a safety buffer. When stock on hand + stock already ordered drops to this point, it's time to order.
- Order quantity — enough to cover the lead time plus your review period (how often you place orders), minus what you have and what's already on the way. Never below the supplier's minimum.
Open any row in Forecasts to see the exact numbers behind it.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Out of stock | Stock is 0 but it still sells — you're losing sales. |
| Reorder now | Stock + incoming has reached the reorder point. |
| Reorder soon | You're entering the reorder window. Plan the order. |
| Healthy | Enough stock for now. |
| Overstock | More stock than you'll sell within the overstock limit (default 120 days). |
| No sales | No sales in 90 days — possible dead stock. |
| New | Under 7 days of sales history — not enough to forecast yet. |
| Not tracked | Wix tracks this product as "in stock / out of stock" without a quantity. |
Not tracked? Foreshelf needs a stock quantity. In your Wix dashboard open the product, turn on Track inventory, and enter the quantity. Foreshelf picks it up on the next sync.
Settings that shape the numbers
- Lead time — days between ordering and receiving. Set it per supplier, or per product to override. Default 14 days.
- Safety days — extra days of stock kept as a buffer against late deliveries or sales spikes. Default 7.
- Review period — how often you place orders. Default 30 days.
- Minimum order — the supplier's minimum quantity for a product.
- Ignore — leave a product out of forecasts and reports.
Change the defaults in Settings, and per product from its row in Forecasts.
Suppliers and purchase orders
- Add your suppliers in Suppliers, with their lead time.
- Assign products to suppliers from Forecasts (select rows → Assign supplier, or open a row).
- Open Reorder report: everything to order, grouped by supplier, with suggested quantities and costs. Adjust quantities and click Create purchase orders — one draft per supplier.
- Review the draft, download the PDF and send it to your supplier, then click Mark as sent. Sent orders count as stock on the way, so they aren't suggested again.
- When the goods arrive, click Receive. Enter what arrived (partial deliveries are fine). Foreshelf adds the received units to your Wix stock and records any difference from what you ordered.
Costs come from the cost you entered on the product in Wix. You can override them per product or on each purchase order line.
Daily stock alerts
Each morning Foreshelf emails a short list of products that are out of stock or need ordering now. It goes to the site owner's email unless you add other addresses in Settings. You can turn it off there.
Syncing
Foreshelf reads a year of orders when you install it, then keeps up with new orders and stock changes automatically and re-checks everything every night. Use Sync now in the header to refresh at any time.
Limits
- Foreshelf works with the current Wix Stores catalog. Stores still on the older catalog version will see a message instead of forecasts.
- Stock at all your inventory locations is added together. Received units are added at the location that already holds the most of that product.
- Digital products are left out — they have no stock.
